SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO ADDRESSES THOUGHT LEADERS IN NEW YORK Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho traveled to New York City today to address a meeting of education thought leaders at Scholastic, a global children's publishing, education and media company. Carvalho spoke on redesigning education, common core standards, and digital convergence. The meeting was assembled by Scholastic’s President and Chief Executive Officer Richard Robinson in order to review the cutting edge work in technology, family engagement and other areas that are making a difference in the improvement of student learning in Miami-Dade. Last year, Miami-Dade County Public Schools was awarded The Broad Prize for Urban Education, an annual award that honors urban school districts across the country that are making the greatest progress in raising student achievement.
