M-DCPS NAMED AMONG ‘THE BEST’ – WINS NATIONAL UNDERWRITER’S EXCELLENCE IN WORKERS’ COMP. RISK MANAGEMENT AWARD

Miami-Dade County Public Schools has been named one of three winners of the National Underwriter’s (NU) Excellence in Workers’ Compensation Risk Management Award, which honors organizations with outstanding loss control, safety and return-to-work programs.

The winners will be honored during the 68th annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference scheduled for Aug. 18-21 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.  During the conference, risk managers from each winning organization will discuss their national award-winning programs.  The two other winners are American Infrastructure Inc. and Aramark Corp.

The school district’s Office of Risk and Benefits Management is headed by Risk and Benefits Officer Scott Clark, a 28-year veteran of the school system and former president of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), the world’s largest risk management society comprises employers from all over the world.

Clark and his team, which includes Workers' Compensation Supervisor Rosa Royo, launched several key initiatives to manage workplace safety, setting a course to re-engage physicians to take ownership of the treatment of injured workers while charging the Workers’ Comp adjuster with the responsibility for all aspects of the injured worker’s file.

For more information, contact Scott Clark or Rosa Royo at 305-995-7130.
