SUPERINTENDENT CARVALHO HEADS TO WASHINGTON, D.C.
TO RECEIVE HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARD

Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C. today in anticipation of Thursday’s Hispanic Heritage Awards ceremony.  Carvalho will be recognized with the Education Award for his academic achievements in one of the largest Hispanic-serving districts in the country as well as for his stance on Dreamers, undocumented students who live in this country.

The ceremony is scheduled to commence tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Prior to the event, there will be a daytime recognition at the White House at noon.

The Hispanic Heritage Awards is the signature event of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation and serves as the kick-off to their award-winning mission to inspire, identify, prepare and position Hispanic leaders in the classroom, community and workforce to meet America’s priorities. The Hispanic Heritage Awards were established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month.
