SPECIAL EVENTS CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY OF BOND PASSAGE

A series of special events will take place across Miami-Dade County over the next two weeks, to celebrate the progress made since voters overwhelmingly passed a $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond referendum to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the district, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety and provide technology upgrades at all schools.

Upgrades and new buildings for school sites are well into the design process, in preparation for construction.  New wireless infrastructure has been installed at many schools, paving the way for our schools moving into the digital age.

By taking full advantage of today’s technology and digital learning environments, and replacing or updating aging school buildings, we are helping to ensure that all students have access to cutting-edge academic programming and modern safety and security measures. Parents can learn about improvements at their child’s school by speaking with the school’s principal or by visiting bondsforschools.dadeschools.net.

The 21st Century Schools initiative provides prosperity and security in the community, as capital from outside the county will be invested within the local economy, creating jobs for Miami-Dade residents. It is now possible for the District to address the mounting needs of the aging schools and fund state-of-the-art technology for all schools. As a result of all of this investment, students will be better prepared for the 21st Century global economy.
