M-DCPS STUDENTS WIN TOP PRIZES IN STATEWIDE ART CONTEST
Two Miami-Dade County Public Schools students have won the top prizes in the statewide Waterventures Art and Essay Contest and will be honored, along with their respective schools, at recognition ceremonies on Thursday, Oct. 24. Waterventures is an interactive, mobile learning lab that features enriching and engaging activities and offers hands-on looks at Florida's diverse watersheds, water conservation and recycling. Zephyrhills Natural Spring Water Company and Nestlé Waters sponsored the contest.
Stephanie Martinez from Campbell Drive K-8 Center was named the grand-prize winner. She will receive a $500 check prize, which also includes a $5,000 donation for her school. Alexander Moody, a former student at Hubert O. Sibley K-8 Academy, won first place and a $300 prize. His win earns Sibley K-8 a $3,000 donation.
Both check presentation ceremonies will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 at two locations:
