SUPERINTENDENT ALBERTO M. CARVALHO INFORMS SPECIAL AUDIT AND BUDGET ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD DEVELOPMENTS

Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho addressed a special meeting of The Miami-Dade School Board’s Audit and Budget Advisory Committee on April 22nd to inform its members of developments at a meeting of the Miami-Dade Value Adjustment Board (VAB).  Carvalho spoke earlier in the day before the VAB, which recognized a problem with a property tax shortfall that would deeply affect school funding. 

An appeal to the Audit and Budget Advisory Committee to vary from its approved Audit Plan and audit school funding received as a result of VAB activities was passed at the request of the Superintendent and the Chief Auditor, and the recommendation will proceed to the School Board for approval. Superintendent Carvalho has vowed to authorize additional funding for personnel who can assist the auditing function in identifying and correcting the problem.
