Vivian Gonzalez, an outstanding music teacher from South Miami K-8 Center and a quarter finalist for the Grammy Music Educator of the Year, was chosen as one of the seven fans that Country music group Lady Antebellum is visiting before their album release and concert tomorrow night. Gonzalez was surprised by the singers during her morning music class, which was full of students that included her own two daughters. The three band members walked into the classroom, gave her a big hug, congratulated her for all of the hard work and dedication teaching students, and presented her with brand new instruments. Her students clapped and cheered with excitement. They also performed a song for the band and got to sing one of Lady Antebellum’s hits along with the superstars. Gonzalez’ husband entered her into the contest without her knowedge. He could not believe she had been selected, but shared that his wife deserved this and much more. The two of them will be flown to New York City tomorrow night for Lady Antebellum’s concert in honor of their new album. Gonzalez was the only educator selected for this contest.
