WHAT:

Miami Marlins visit Jose de Diego Middle School

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Jose de Diego Middle School
3100 NW Fifth Avenue
Miami, FL 33127

WHY:

Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ (M-DCPS) Department of Food and Nutrition is deeply committed to ensuring all children from our communities have access to healthy meals during the summer when school is out. M-DCPS, through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, has supported summer meal programs that keep children active and engaged when school is out, while providing critical nutrition.

The 2015 Summer BreakSpot program offers free nutritious meals, recreational fun and educational activities for children 18 and under at more than 3,600 locations statewide during summer. Last year, the program provided more than 13.5 million meals to about 300,000 children, continuing the increase in summer meals the state has seen since the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services took over the school nutrition programs in 2012.
