M-DCPS TO PARTNER WITH U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IN PILOTING PEACE AMBASSADOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced this morning its participation with the U.S. Attorney’s Office Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) in piloting a Peace Ambassadors Leadership Program (PALP). VRP supports efforts in South Florida to reduce violence in communities through collaborative efforts with public and private organizations in the implementation of various prevention initiatives. Through this pilot program, 10 high school juniors from each of the 13 selected high schools will be trained as “Peace Ambassadors” to meet monthly and conduct activities addressing social and civic issues affecting their communities. This initiative empowers students to become “change agents” in their family, school, and community focusing on activities that engage in character-building and civic accountability. # # # 15-DGD/69/TC |
