Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Newly Renovated Van E. Blanton Elementary School General Obligation Bond Event

WHY:

Miami-Dade County Public Schools is hosting special events across the school district to celebrate completed school bond projects resulting from the overwhelming voter approval of the $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond. The bond is being used to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the district, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety, and provide technology upgrades at all schools.

Renovations, which were completed on time, include the replacement of air conditioning units in classrooms and upgrading of air conditioning in selected areas, electrical service, fire alarm system as well as installing a new security alarm system; renovating classrooms in Building 2; painting the interior; installing new playgrounds and classroom technology, and removing portables. The total value of the project was $2.2 million.
