M-DCPS CELEBRATES 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF GOB WITH RIBBON-CUTTING EVENT AT PALM LAKES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Superintendent of Schools Albert M. Carvalho, School Board members, community leaders, District and school administrators, teachers, students and parents of Palm Lakes Elementary School

WHAT:

Ribbon-cutting ceremony for newly renovated Palm Lakes Elementary, a General Obligation Bond (GOB) Event and celebration of the third anniversary of voter approval of the $1.2 billion GOB by Miami-Dade County voters with nearly 70 percent of the votes cast.

WHY:

Miami-Dade County Public Schools is hosting special events across the school district to celebrate completed school bond projects resulting from the $1.2 billion GOB. The bond is being used to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the district, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety, and provide technology upgrades at all schools. Up to the present time, $120 million has been 
spent with another $100 million under contract.

The following renovations were completed in this GOB project in a timely fashion and at cost: new covered walkway installed, existing covered walkway repaired, parking area re-surfaced and re-striped; play court re-      surfaced and re-striped; security cameras added at various locations; painting at various locations; moveable partitions replaced at various locations; electrical outlets to support various computer stations installed; A/C units replaced in Buildings 3, 4, and dining room, grease traps serving kitchen replaced, and main electric room panel replaced. The total value of the project was $1.4 million.
