WHY:

Teams of middle school students from across South Florida will compete against each other in a series of events to see who has the best robot-building, programming and driving skills. VEX IQ Robotics is one of the world’s leading educational robotics platforms and is specifically targeted to the middle school student.

Each year, the VEX IQ Robotics Competition features a new challenge that allows young people and their coaches to design, build and program a robot that will complete a series of tasks to earn points.  This year’s game is called “Bank Shot,” which is played on a 4-foot-by-8-foot field and requires the teams to work collaboratively to solve problems and earn points.  The competitions are structured similar to athletic competitions with seasons and regional, national and international competitions leading to world championships.  Many students go on to careers in engineering, medicine, politics and business.
