OVER 300 M-DCPS STUDENTS HEAD TO THE RACES AT THE HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY FOR A PLACE AT THE NATIONAL STEM LEAGUE FINALS

WHO: 

Career & Technical Education, Math and Science teachers and students from ten M-DCPS high schools will compete alongside other South Florida high school contestants. Participating District schools: G. Holmes Braddock, Hialeah Gardens, iTech @ Thomas Edison Ed. Center, Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy, Maritime and Science Technology (MAST) Academy, Miami Beach, Miami Springs, North Miami, Robert Morgan Ed. Center, and TERRA Environmental.

WHAT:

Ten80 National STEM League (NSL) Spring Invitational Challenge

WHEN:

March 13, 2015
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

WHERE:

Homestead-Miami Speedway, R/C track
1 Ralph Sanchez Speedway Blvd,
Homestead, FL 33035

WHY:

Winning teams will earn an invitation and travel stipends to the National Ten80 Finals in Houston, Texas in May 2015. Other competitions will take place that day, including fastest pit crew, engineering design, marketing and project management.

The mission of M-DCPS is to engage and prepare STEM students to ensure that our community has the next generation of inventors, explorers, and innovators.

VISUALS:
Students will be racing head-to-head on the Speedway’s Radio Control track with student-reengineered and optimized 1:10 scale team racecars, just like NASCAR professionals.
