WHY: |
To kick off the Cooking for Life Festival, Superintendent Carvalho and Chef Bernstein are partnering up during a Common Threads cooking class to bring awareness and increase interest in healthy eating and cooking skills.
The Cooking for Life Festival, taking place April 17-19, will bring together a select group of the country’s most celebrated chefs to support the organization’s mission. Common Threads will bring their national community committed to positively impacting kids’ health and well-being to Miami for an entire weekend.
Common Threads, the national non-profit organization fighting childhood obesity by teaching kids healthy cooking skills, currently has programming in 33 schools in Miami. Through hands-on curriculum, Common Threads is empowering students and families to cook healthy, working to reverse the trend of childhood obesity and related health complications. |
