WHY:

A recent incident at Miami Killian Senior High School has stimulated media inquiries about school security.  Miami-Dade Schools Police and Student Services will hold a media availability to show how - through a multi-layered approach – we keep our students safe and our schools secure. We will discuss and demonstrate our Random Metal Detection Program, video surveillance system, the School Resource Officer program, crisis intervention/mental health training, anti-bullying program and the See Something, Say Something campaign.

Note for Spanish Media: Miami-Dade Schools Police and counselors will be available to address media in Spanish.
