MIAMI PALMETTO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AWARDED
SCHOLARSHIPS

Two Miami Palmetto Senior High School students have received
scholarships from the Siemens Foundation as part of its education
initiative to promote and reward excellence in high school
mathematics and science.
Michael Glickman, a senior, received $8,000 as a national winner.
Rene Shen, a junior, received $3,000 as a regional winner.
Glickman lists Physics as his favorite subject. He is active in his
school's Psychology Club, the Junior Engineering Technical Society,
and the Southeastern Consortium of Mathematics and Engineering. He
volunteers at the Coral Reef Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center
and at Habitat for Humanity.
The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement recognize students who have
the highest cumulative score on the greatest number of Advanced
Placement examinations in the areas of Biology, Calculus BC,
Chemistry, Computer Science AB, Environmental Science, Physics C
(Electricity and Magnetism), Physics C (Mechanics), and
Statistics.
At Miami Killian Senior High School, Principal Timothy Dawson
accepted a Siemens Foundation award for the exemplary Advanced
Placement success achieved by the Miami Killian faculty and student
body.
