The Title I District Advisory Council will honor participants of its
sixth annual Title I Community Awareness Days at a recognition
ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Booker T. Washington Senior
High School, 1200 N.W. 6 Ave.
Community Awareness Days, a month-long event that takes place each
January, is designed to highlight the services available to parents
to assist them in the education of their children. During Community
Awareness Days school representatives who implement Title I programs
visit churches and business and community organizations to share
information about Title I opportunities.
Title I is a federal program that provides funding to school
districts based on the number of low-income families they serve. The
funds are intended to provide extra educational services to children
in need.
