M-DCPS Chosen by Sandy Hook Promise for National Launch of Violence Prevention Program

 “Start With Hello” Week kickoff

WHY:

As part of our Values Matter Miami initiative, Miami-Dade County Public Schools is partnering with Sandy Hook Promise, a national non-profit organization, which focuses on violence prevention so that no parent has to experience the loss of his or her child.  This partnership will include bringing Start With Hello Week to Miami-Dade County Public Schools during the week of September 19-23, 2016.

The Start With Hello initiative raises awareness about social isolation and highlights the importance of creating connected and inclusive classrooms, schools, and communities.
 
All schools are expected to participate in Start With Hello Week and to find creative ways to personalize the activities for their school.  Please access the Start With Hello Week Activity Guide at osi.dadeschools.net/ValuesMatter/.

The schedule for Start with Hello Week is as follows:
o  Monday, September 19 - Hey Day
o  Tuesday, September 20 - Positivity Tuesday
o  Wednesday, September 21 - Make Miami Green Day
o  Thursday, September 22 - Miami-Dade Mingles Day
o  Friday, September 23 - Forget Me Not Friday
