Miami-Dade County Public Schools will break ground on the new GOB Project at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High. Silva Architects and Thornton Construction Company are the architect and construction manager, respectively, commissioned to deliver the $9.8 million project.
The Krop Senior High project is an innovative replica of the iPrep concept and will accommodate a full high school iPrep curriculum on the Krop campus. The 30,581 square-foot building will have a capacity for approximately 600 student stations.
To reflect the innovative curriculum, the building will include several large collaboration iPrep spaces, in addition to general classrooms, science and computer labs, a serving kitchen; dining facilities (both interior and exterior); and ancillary spaces to support the overall operation of the facility.
The school bond projects resulted from voter approval of the $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond. The bond is being used to modernize and construct school buildings throughout the District, expand student capacity, enhance facility safety, and provide technology upgrades at all schools.
