iPrep Academy, 2nd Floor
1500 Biscayne Boulevard
Miami, FL 33132
The Superintendent’s Student Innovation Challenge seeks to engage current high school juniors and seniors in identifying real-world problems and leveraging their knowledge, passion and creativity to develop innovative solutions to large-scale issues currently facing our society. Students may submit entries related to environmental issues (such as sea level rise and red tide), health issues (such as e-cigarette use), or social issues (such as youth homelessness).
With the commitment of Superintendent Carvalho’s $10,000 prize for being recognized as National Urban Superintendent of the Year and the generous matching contributions of community leaders in support of this initiative, thousands of dollars in scholarships will be awarded. The total prize amount will be announced at this event.
In addition to launching the Challenge, Carvalho will also offer comments on Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) being named the 2018 Cambridge District of the Year Award.
Students, parents/guardians, and teachers may access information regarding the challenge, including rules for entry and important deadlines, by visiting http://challenge.dadeschools.net/
