WHY:
Miami-Dade County Public Schools is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the addition and renovation project at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center. The $11.7 Million construction was awarded to Veitia Padron, Inc., which began the project three years ago.
The school, built in 1964, has seven buildings and 658 student stations. Two buildings were demolished and a new three-story building replaced it. Other new upgrades include a new covered walkway, basketball court and a new kindergarten play area.
