At its regular monthly
meeting, the Miami-Dade School Board awarded contracts to three construction
companies to complete General Obligation Bond (GOB) projects at Redondo
Elementary, Palm Springs Elementary and Miami Lakes Middle schools valued at approximately
$18.4 million.
Redondo Elementary - Veitia Padron, Incorporated (VPI)
has been awarded the construction contract for the bond-funded renovations and
remodeling project at Redondo Elementary built in 1960 in Homestead. The school
is bordered on the north by N.W. 15th Street, on the east by N.W 10th Avenue and
currently is comprised of 17 permanent buildings with 749 student stations.
The scope of
work includes air conditioning replacement of air handling units and unit
ventilators, chiller replacement, bathroom renovations, campus-wide exterior
painting and full fire alarm replacement.

Small/Micro Business Enterprise (S/MBE) participation: 20.49 percent
Total sub-consultant Minority/Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) participation: 15.69
percent

Palm Springs
Elementary
- Stonehenge Construction, LLC has been awarded the contract for the GOB
renovations project at Palm Springs Elementary School. Built in 1954, the
school is located south of Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah. The campus is made
up of 10 permanent buildings and has 970 student stations.
The scope of
work includes air conditioning replacement of air handling units and unit
ventilators, chiller replacement, bathroom renovations, campus-wide exterior
painting and full fire alarm replacement.
Total sub-consultant S/MBE participation: 25.26 percent
Total sub-consultant M/WBE participation: 8.98 percent

$9.1 million Completion – February 2024
Miami Lakes
Middle
- Veitia Padron, Incorporated was chosen as the construction
management at-Risk firm for the GOB renovations project at Miami Lakes Middle
School. Built in 1974, the school is bordered on the north by Miami Lakes Park
and on the west by Ludlum Road. The school currently comprises two permanent
buildings on a 35-acre parcel of land. The facility has a capacity 1,193
student stations and will have a total of 1,369 student stations upon
completion of the project.
The scope of
work includes, but is not limited to, remodeling to establish nine new
classrooms, the addition of new ADA-compliant restrooms, new impact windows, a new
Energy Management System for heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC),
and demolition of portables and painting.
Total sub-consultant S/MBE participation: 25.99 percent
Total sub-consultant M/WBE participation: 15 percent
Total project allocation -
$5.9 million Completion – February 2024
