Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is partnering with HistoryMiami Museum to commemorate its unparalleled, innovative school choice with an exhibition highlighting the 50 years of Miami’s Magnet Schools. The exhibit is open through January 8, 2024, at HistoryMiami Museum's Community Gallery located at 101 W. Flagler St. Attendees can visit the M-DCPS Magnet Schools exhibit for free.
The exhibit is a collection of photographs highlighting the evolution and impact of M-DCPS' Magnet Schools over the past five decades. Visitors will step back in time and explore the roots of M-DCPS Magnet Schools with historical photos and artifacts capturing the essence of the early years. Moving into the present, attendees will witness the transformative power of Magnet Schools today and the dynamic, learning experiences students engage in. The exhibition also provides a glimpse into the future of Magnet Schools as M-DCPS envisions what lies ahead.
Families are also invited to become a part of this living history by applying to Magnet Schools for the upcoming school year. With more than 370 magnet diverse programs, students from grades PK through 12 can engage in hands-on learning experiences, explore innovative curricula, cultivate their talent, and discover their passions.
Applications are being accepted through January 15, 2024, exclusively online via the M-DCPS Parent Portal. Families can visit yourchoicemiami.org/magnet-application to explore their options and apply. Families are encouraged to choose five magnet programs when applying to increase their chances of selection and provide additional opportunities for students.
