It
is that time of year again and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is ready
and prepared for the start of hurricane season, which begins June 1st. Safety
is among M-DCPS’ top priorities and the
District will once again work directly with the National Hurricane Center and the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management to
monitor any hurricane activity.
M-DCPS’ technology and applications will help ensure a smooth process in
restoring normal school and District operations following a tropical storm or
hurricane.
Also, from June 1 through June 14, families in Florida can buy
batteries, coolers, flashlights, weather radios, generators and pet supplies
and pay no sales taxes.
The Department of Revenue has created a webpage with the qualifying items that are
exempt from sales tax.
