Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has been awarded the Cognia 2024 School/Systems of Distinction Award. Cognia is a renowned non-profit organization that specializes in accreditation and certification services for K-12 schools nationally and abroad. The accreditation comes after M-DCPS underwent a comprehensive accreditation process encompassing all Pre K-12 schools.
The District received the highest possible rating in 28 of the 30 Performance Standards. In addition, M-DCPS’s rating in each of the 30 performance standards was higher than the Cognia Network Average. This average reflects the performance of the 40,000 institutions worldwide that utilize Cognia for accreditation across over 90 countries.
On Cognia’s Index of Education Quality, a holistic measure of overall performance, the District received a score of 395, five points away from a perfect score of 400. These ratings are based on the results of the rigorous Cognia Accreditation Engagement Review process.
“I want to extend my gratitude to all who have contributed to maintaining our high standards and ensuring M-DCPS remains your best choice,” said School Superintendent Dr. Jose L. Dotres.
Across the
globe, Cognia conducted approximately 1,950 accreditation engagement reviews
during the 2023-2024 school year. Of these, only 60 institutions were
recognized as schools or systems of distinction. Of those, 41 are U.S. schools,
and 11 are U.S. school systems located across 23 states and Puerto Rico.
Additionally, eight international schools from five countries were also recognized.
