Three
Miami-Dade County public schools were recognized as Exemplary High Performing
Schools by the U.S Department of Education 2024 Blue Ribbon Schools Program. The
schools are George Washington Carver Middle School, Jose Marti MAST 6-12
Academy and North Dade Center for Modern Languages Elementary School. A total
of 15 schools in Florida were recognized with this award.
The
U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes
schools based on student performance data including assessment results, student
subgroup performance, and graduation rates. Schools are recognized in both or
either of two performance categories: 1) Exemplary High Performing Schools: These
schools are among the top performers in their state as measured by state
assessments or nationally normed tests. 2) Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing
Schools: These schools excel in narrowing achievement gaps between student
groups and the overall student body. The U.S. Department of Education nominates
outstanding schools each year for this coveted award.
