The Florida Department of Education has awarded $8,314,350 to the Miami-Dade County Public School (M-DCPS) district through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive (Workforce CAP) Grant Program. This funding will be used to create and expand innovative K-12 and postsecondary dual enrollment workforce development programs across the district, providing students with hands-on educational experiences in high-demand fields.
“This significant investment in our students’ future is a testament to our commitment to providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the 21st-century workforce,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jose L. Dotres. “We are particularly excited to announce that approximately $3 million of this grant will be dedicated to establishing the SpaceHUB Mega-Magnet focused on Aerospace Science in partnership with the Space Florida Academy Program.”
The
SpaceHUB will be a cutting-edge learning environment where students can delve
into the exciting world of aerospace, gaining valuable skills and knowledge in
areas such as:

In
addition to the SpaceHUB, the Workforce CAP grant will also support the
enhancement and expansion of other M-DCPS K-12 Career and Technical Education
programs, including:

Construction Management

Agritechnology
· Entrepreneurship - Business Management and Analysis
These
programs will provide students with industry-recognized certifications and
credentials, preparing them for high-skill, high-wage careers in growing
sectors of the Florida economy.
