At its regular Board meeting, the Miami-Dade County School Board approved the James B. Pirtle Construction Company, Inc., to complete a General Obligation Bond (GOB) project at J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High School. The addition and renovation project at the school has a construction budget of $29.8 million.
Built in 1998, the school includes two buildings with 1,193 student stations, which will increase to 1,810 when the project is completed. The scope of the project includes a new, three-story building with 85,000 square feet, totaling 617 new student stations. The building will include a gymnasium with a 2,000-seat capacity, as well as male and female varsity locker rooms.
The new addition will also include a Little Theater/Black Box building, gymnastics dance studio and multi-purpose room. There will also be four vocational/business tech labs, 12 general classrooms and four science classrooms
Additional enhancements include a parking lot expansion, new covered walkways, HVAC upgrades and infrastructure improvements. Building 2 will be renovated to include kitchen improvements, a covered dining addition, a weight and wrestling room.
