Public
schools in Miami-Dade have reached their highest graduation rate ever at 91.8
percent for the 2023-2024 school year. This represents a significant increase
of 1.5 percent from last year, demonstrating a solid upward trajectory in our
students’ performance.
It is important
to highlight that the graduation rate for our District schools increased to
95.2 percent, representing a 1.0 percentage
point increase from the 2022-2023 school year rate of 94.2 percent.
Additionally,
for the third consecutive year, public schools in Miami-Dade surpassed the
overall state graduation rate. Below are some highlights:
· Public schools in Miami-Dade achieved an impressive graduation rate of 91.8 percent in 2024, surpassing the state's overall rate of 89.7 percent. This commendable achievement was evident across all subgroups, including Hispanic, White, Black, English Language Learners, Students with Disabilities, and Economically Disadvantaged students, surpassing their counterparts statewide.
· Hispanic students saw an increase of 1.5 percentage points compared to 2022-23, rising from 90.9 percent to 92.4 percent, surpassing the state rate of 89 percent.
· Black students experienced a 1.5 percentage point increase compared to 2022-23, rising from 86.4 percent to 87.9 percent, surpassing the state rate of 85.3 percent.
· Students with Disabilities saw a 1.5 percentage point increase from 2022-23, improving from 88.1 percent to 89.6 percent and exceeding the state average of 86.8 percent.
· Economically Disadvantaged students experienced a 1.9 percentage point increase compared to 2022-23, rising from 89.3 percent to 91.2 percent, surpassing the state rate of 86.2 percent.
· English Language Learners showed a
notable growth of 4.1 percentage points compared to 2022-23, rising from 80.1
percent to 84.2 percent, surpassing the state rate of 80.7 percent.
“Achieving the highest graduation rate ever is a testament to the unwavering dedication, resilience, and hard work of students, educators, families, and community partners. It is a true milestone of academic excellence,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jose L. Dotres.
