All Miami-Dade County Public Schools with Voluntary Prekindergarten Pass State-Required Program Assessments

Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced Wednesday that 100 percent of schools with Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) passed the state’s program assessment, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), with no reassessments this year. VPK programs are offered in more than 200 M-DCPS schools county wide.

The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) is a state-required evidence-based observational tool to assess the effectiveness of teacher-child interactions that focus on Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support domains. Also, in every program area, such as VPK Title I, VPK Fee-Supported, VPK Head Start, and VPK Inclusion, M-DCPS increased its average score from the 2023-2024 school year. Overall, as a District and in each program area, M-DCPS continues to be your best choice in high quality pre-k programming.

Quality prekindergarten programming is the crucial first step in a child's educational journey. Children who attend high-quality pre-k programs have better outcomes in reading, math and social skills because these early years are critical for brain development, and pre-k programs effectively stimulate cognitive growth and prepare children for kindergarten. These programs lay the groundwork for future academic success.
