At its regular Board meeting held on Wednesday, the Miami-Dade County School Board awarded Veitia Padron, Inc. the General Obligation Bond (GOB) new classroom and P.E. shelter addition remodeling and renovation project at Miami Arts Studio (MAS) 6-12 at Zelda Glazer valued at approximately $8 million.
Built in 2006 on Coral Way and S.W. 150th Avenue, the school currently comprises nine permanent buildings, situated on approximately 16 acres. The facility has 1,842 student stations, which will increase to 1922 upon completion of this project.
The scope of the project includes a new 14,000 sq. ft. building, which will have classrooms for Dance, Band and Music, including several auxiliary rooms for storage and practice. These classrooms will provide 80 new student stations. The addition’s roof will have solar photovoltaic panels, as well as a new P.E. shelter, and covered walkways connecting to existing buildings and outdoor dining area.
Also included is the conversion of four classrooms in Building 5 to two skills labs/Moot Courts with conference and deliberation rooms. The conversion includes new ceiling, lighting, flooring, doors, millwork, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
Total sub-consultant Minority/Women Business Enterprise participation: 1.73 percent
Total sub-consultant Small/Micro Business Enterprise participation: 16.85 percent
