Secure Your Child’s Future: Magnet and VPK Applications Due January 15

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is still accepting Magnet program and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) applications for the 2026-2027 school year. Families have until January 15, 2026, to apply for all magnet programs and select high-interest VPK programs. Parents can apply at any time for all other VPK programs on a first-come, first-serve basis.

M-DCPS Magnet programs are nationally acclaimed, earning Magnet Schools of America Merit Awards year after year for their outstanding academic rigor and innovative approaches. With 121 schools and more than 350 programs across 11 themes of study, these programs provide pathways to college and career readiness while fostering creativity and critical thinking.

Students can explore themes such as:

VPK is a state-funded program for 4-year-olds that lays out the groundwork for future academic achievement. Research shows that children who attend high-quality pre-K programs perform better in reading, math, and social skills. M-DCPS VPK programs, offered in more than 200 schools, consistently surpass state standards, with 100% of programs passing the state’s CLASS assessment in 2025.

Applications for both Magnet and VPK programs are accepted exclusively through the Admissions tab on the Dadeschools.net website.  Parents can log in easily using an Apple or Google account and click the Admissions Application tile to get started. This applies to both new and current students. The deadline to apply for Magnet programs and select VPK is January 15^th, 2026.
