Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is proud to announce the launch of PK-3 Sprouts, a new tuition-supported early learning program designed to expand access to high-quality preschool for three-year-old children beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
The program provides a full-day instructional experience emphasizing school readiness, early literacy and numeracy, socioemotional learning, and play-based instruction. PK-3 Sprouts expands access to high-quality preschool for three-year-old children and supports successful transitions into Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) while promoting kindergarten readiness.
Seven schools have been selected as the inaugural PK-3 Sprouts pilot sites based on enrollment data, facility capacity, and community early learning needs. Together, these locations ensure access across the district’s South, Central, and North regions.
• E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary School
• Greynolds Park Elementary School
• Howard Drive Elementary School
• iPrep Academy
• Miami Beach South Pointe Elementary School
• Silver Bluff Elementary School
• William Lehman Elementary School
The program will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:50 p.m., with an optional extended day program available until 6:00 p.m. through each school’s onsite aftercare provider. The extended day portion will be operated by the principal or a designated partner.
Tuition is set at $40 per day, totaling $7,200 annually for 180 instructional days. Families will make monthly payments of $720 over 10 months, and a $150 nonrefundable registration fee will be due at the time of enrollment. This structure is designed to offer predictable and manageable payment options for families.
Each PK-3 Sprouts classroom will be staffed by two adults, maintaining a 2:17 adult-to-student ratio tailored to the developmental needs of three-year-old learners. This model “supports high-quality instruction, child safety, and consistent supervision throughout the day,” ensuring individualized attention and a nurturing environment using developmentally appropriate practices.
By serving children prior to VPK eligibility, PK-3 Sprouts strengthens the district’s early learning continuum and reinforces its commitment to kindergarten readiness, yet another reason why M-DCPS is Your Best Choice.
Parents should go directly to the school site to register their child. Space is limited, so it is recommended that parents act quickly to reserve their space at their preferred location where PK-3 Sprouts is offered. Students are eligible for the program the day after turning three and can be enrolled year-round pending space availability.
