Miami-Dade County Public Schools Awarded $70,000 to Support Healthier and More Efficient School Operations

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) secured two grants totaling $70,000 to improve indoor air quality in classrooms and strengthen recycling efforts at schools.

“These grants reflect our commitment to creating healthier, more efficient learning environments across all our schools,” said Chief Operating Officer Luis Diaz. “By improving indoor air quality and expanding recycling infrastructure, we are making strategic investments that directly support student well-being and academic success. We are grateful to our partners for recognizing our leadership role and for helping us remove barriers so every school can operate more sustainably and responsibly.”

M-DCPS has been selected to participate in the Go Green Initiative’s Clean Indoor Air Initiative, a multi-year program that provides approximately $45,000 in incentive-based funding. The grant is designed to help school districts improve indoor air quality and building efficiency. The program is supported by the Go Green Initiative and funded wholly or in part by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In addition, M-DCPS has been awarded the 2026 Florida Beverage Association Community Grant for $25,000, which will be used to expand recycling infrastructure across schools participating in the Green Schools Recognition Program during the 2026–2027 school year.

M-DCPS was selected from more than 140 applicants, and the award is made possible through a partnership between the Florida Beverage Association and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America, with each organization contributing $12,500.

Together, these awards reflect how M-DCPS is leveraging partnerships to support practical improvements across school operations, including cleaner indoor environments, stronger recycling systems, and more efficient use of public resources.
