The Florida Board of Education Designates M-DCPS Venetian Parc Academy an Innovation School of Technology, the First in Florida

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is excited to announce that the Florida State Board of Education has approved the District’s proposal to operate Venetian Parc Academy as a new District Innovation School of Technology. As the state’s inaugural district-managed innovation school, Venetian Parc Academy will serve as a statewide pioneer, pairing industry-leading technology with research-based pedagogical models.
 
The mission of Venetian Parc Academy is to deliver a flexible, personalized, and mastery-based learning environment. By combining self-pacing, real-world application, and rotational blended learning with Project-Based Learning, students progress through targeted intervention and enrichment at their own speed. 
 
By securing waivers from traditional instructional hour requirements, the focus shifts from seat time to learning time. This flexibility allows students to advance based on demonstrated competency rather than a rigid calendar. The mastery-first framework ensures students truly internalize Florida’s B.E.S.T. standards, preventing learning gaps from forming and ensuring a solid academic foundation from the very start.
 
Grounded in the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards, Venetian Parc Academy offers evidence-based reading instruction built on the core foundations of literacy and reading science along with a strong foundation in math procedural fluency and concrete conceptual understanding, especially in the early years. Science, social studies, creative arts, physical education, character education, and digital citizenship seamlessly blended into instruction.
 
Additionally, student progress will be tracked continuously using digital mastery dashboards and portfolios, giving parents real-time, transparent insight into their child’s academic growth. Standard summative assessments and state-required progress monitoring will further ensure high academic standards.
